Honda Insight is back after a few years, but this time as a Sedan. The car made its debut at Detroit Auto Show a few days ago in production prototype form, and what it had to show was impressive. You may be interested in finding out everything about this upcoming Honda hybrid, so I decided to provide you all that info in one place. Let’s dive into details now without wasting any more time.
2019 Honda Insight Features
Honda wants to ensure that this is its best Insight ever, so it’s going to load this upcoming sedan with a wide range of features. Those features will include:
- Honda LaneWatch
- Lane departure warning
- Road departure mitigation
- Adaptive cruise control with low-speed flow for traffic jams
- Collision mitigation braking system
- Traffic sign recognition
- Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration
As you can see, this is a lengthy list including almost every major feature provided by modern cars. With almost all big features in the list, we can safely assume that other minor but nice to have features will also be present in this car.
Honda Insight Powertrain (Engine and Transmission System)
The new Honda Insight Sedan will be powered by a 1.5 liter Atkinson Cycle Engine, an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery. Under most conditions Insight will run on electric power alone, using the engine as a generator only. When it comes to transmission, Honda Insight will have a multi-mode direct drive setup. That is, the electric motor of the car will operate on its own single ratio while the engine will use another ratio to provide higher speeds of driving.
Honda Insight 2019 Interior
The rear seats of Honda Insight will be foldable in a 60/40 fashion. Batteries will be housed under those seats so no compromises need to be done on trunk space. The size of the cabin can be expected to remain around that of new Honda Accord. Honda has promised to provide class-leading space and comfort in this new Insight, so we can expect a lot of room inside.
Perforated leather seating, plenty of legroom for the rear seat, premium quality plastic and a wide center console will be the major highlights of this car’s interior. The center console is likely to be divided into a 7-inch instrument cluster for the driver and an 8-inch infotainment screen.
Honda Insight 2019 Price
The price of Honda Insight hasn’t been revealed yet, as it will be announced at the time of sales this fall. However, I expect it to start at $30,000, as Accord Hybrid and Charity PHEV will be positioned above it. So given its specs, powertrain, interior and other features a price tag around $30,000 will be a reasonable choice for the company.
Honda Insight 2019 will reach the showrooms sometime around the end of this year. That will make it truly a 2019 model. Yes, there’s a lot of time in it, but in the meantime, more details about it will continue to emerge to satisfy our curiosity!
